A 6th Grader’s No Idling Campaign
11-year old Nathan Moos of Sandy decided it was up to him to take action to reduce carbon emissions. He did research and interviews, then approached his elementary school principal about a campaign to stop vehicles idling outside his school.
Nathan and his mother made several signs that said “No Idling – Children Breathing.” Nathan and several students took the signs outside after school, when students were being picked up, and held them up at both ends of the parking lot to remind parents to turn off their engines.
Wow! Way to go, Nathan. This is an idea that will spread among Children for Clean Air.
“I would like to try and see if I could bring this to the governor to make into a state policy,” Nathan said.
